CPR - Step 1

Check the Scene and Person for Safety

Before you touch the person, you must assess the environment.
And check if:

- Is the area safe to enter?

- There is anything dangerous, for example, chemicals or traffic.

- You can safely here here, or if the person needs to be moved to a safer location.

Emergency CPR Help

After checking for safety in the environment, then, approach the person and check if they are responsive:

- Begin by tapping them on the shoulder.

- Then ensure to speak loud and clear

Ask: “Are you okay? Can you hear me?”

- Look for any type of indication that they are responding such as grunting, opening their eyes, moving any fingers or any part of their body.

If they respond, DO NOT start CPR.
If they do not respond, then begin the next step.
