CPR - Step 5

Give 30 Chest Compressions

For Adults and Children (1–12 years old):

- Place the heel of one hand in the center of the chest.

- Place your other hand on top and interlock your fingers.

- Put your shoulders over your hands with your elbows straight.

- Then push straight down at least 2-2.4 inches deep (2 inches for a child).

- Let the chest recoil fully after each compression.

- Do 30 compressions at a rate of 100–120 per minute.

- Ensure you are at this rate - if you begin to feel tired then rotate CPR with another individual, if you are alone keep on pushing until you cannot anymore

Emergency CPR Help

For Infants (under 1 year old):

- Use two fingers just below the nipple line.

- Push about 1.5 inches deep.

The beat of a song is a good way to time out the compressions::

- "Stayin’ Alive" by the Bee Gees

- “Baby Shark”
